Philosophy


Preschool is an integral part of most 3, 4, and 5 year olds' lives. We are fortunate enough here to offer a quality preschool program staffed by qualified, caring adults.

GOALS
Our goal for the preschool program is to offer the children enrolled a Christian based preschool program. Activities planned are based on weekly themes throughout the year. We use a hands-on, child centered approach in planning developmentally appropriate activities. By the end of the preschool year, we hope to have given all children enrolled, whether they are 3, 4, or 5, a quality, developmentally appropriate preschool experience, abundant in learning or enhancing social skills, cognitive skills, a variety of playtime experiences, time for physical play, and sensory experiences. Activities planned will encourage the children to develop and use their physical, social, emotional, communication, and creativity skills. This is accomplished by providing a hands-on, experience centered atmosphere.

LEARNING CENTERS
The learning centers set up will provide opportunities for the children to experiment, observe, explore, identify, communicate, and create. Letters will be introduced each week for the 4-5 yr olds through visual and handson activities. Shapes, numbers, and colors will be integrated within the themes.

PLAY
Play time is an important piece in a developmentally appropriate preschool program. Through play, children learn about their world and the people in it. They make connections, learn essential thought processes, form relationships, discover how to think independently, and develop creative skills.

SCHEDULE
Preschool begins with circle time or group gathering time. During this time, we have calendar and weather, then read a story and sing finger plays together. We will also have a short prayer and bible story to read. We discuss our theme for the day and what we will do next. Circle time lasts only 15 minutes or so. Following our gathering time, the children rotate through the learning centers. These centers are planned for the children to explore and create while learning essential school readiness skills. During or following center time, the children have free time. The classroom environment is set up with free choice activities that will enhance a child’s learning through play. Each class includes outside time daily as well. Outside play time is also important because children need fresh air and time to run off some energy! We hope that your child enjoys their time with us, whether he/she is here for preschool only or for preschool plus all day, childcare. We know that we will enjoy our time with your child!
